The Dyson vacuum comes with a hefty price tag, but I was determined not to shell out a lot. My trusted Henry vacuum has served me well for 13 years, so we opted for this one after conducting thorough research.
We compared it with the Shark Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner Electric Blue IZ202UK at Currys. Despite the Shark being lighter, its weight was still a concern for us. The only way to compare it was to purchase this one, banking on the hope of hassle-free returns via dirt free spots (even though we hadn’t heard of this brand before).
The product arrived swiftly within 4 days, packed neatly and compactly, making assembly a breeze.
It’s incredibly lightweight, a major advantage. Unlike the top-heavy Dyson, I can effortlessly lift it with two fingers. This was a significant concern for me, and although not explicitly mentioned in reviews, I wanted to highlight it. It’s sturdy too, contrary to some reviews claiming it to be flimsy.
The battery lasts around 35 minutes on average, which is a bit concerning. However, for regular cleaning, scheduling sessions for different areas and investing in an extra battery seem like viable solutions. Charging takes about 4.5 hours. There are varying modes: Eco mode lasts 20 minutes, medium lasts 5 minutes, and very high lasts 10 minutes.
While it didn’t pick up a tissue or an indoor plant leaf, the suction power felt impressive on rugs in Eco mode. I used level 3 on stairs, where it effectively sucked up hair and dust, albeit with some hair getting stuck in the bottom.
It easily fits into tight spaces and boasts 360-degree rotation, making maneuverability fantastic. However, using it as a full unit on stairs requires a full charge session.
It’s not a replacement for my Henry, which effortlessly picks up everything, but it’s convenient for quick cleanups. For carpets and stairs, it requires separate charging sessions, but an additional battery could alleviate this.
The handheld component is also lightweight. While the bottom unit stands on its own, the handheld needs separate storage unless wall-mounted. Without a battery, the full unit is too top-heavy to stand on its own.
Concerns include battery life and suction power for small particles on stairs, but these can potentially be mitigated by multiple passes. At $569 (with an option to purchase an additional battery), it’s definitely worth it for daily/weekly cleaning, complementing a deeper clean with Henry once a month. It’s a more affordable alternative to the expensive Dyson models. I’ll update if my opinion changes.
